Presentation of the 79th Edition of the Salerno International Film Festival

The Press Conference introducing the 79th edition of the Salerno International Film Festival took place this morning in the Sala Giunta of Palazzo di Città, in the presence of local institutions, the press, partners, and numerous citizens.

The event opened with remarks by Mayor Vincenzo Napoli, who highlighted how the Festival has long represented a cornerstone of the city’s cultural identity, contributing to its international dialogue and cultural development.

Artistic Director Paola De Cesare presented the 2025 programme, outlining the key new features of this edition, the preview events, and the full calendar leading up to the Festival week.

Significant data were shared by Tullio Benissone, moderator of the Open Forums: this year’s edition has reached a new record number of submissions, with films arriving from over 40 countries, as well as remarkable participation from the international popular jury, with more than 4,000 users engaged through the dedicated VOD platform.

Professor Gennaro Cuccurullo, President of the Uni in Strada APS Association, presented the special evening “In mezzo a tutto il sole dimora”, part of the Festival’s integrated cultural programme.

Domenico Credendino, President of the Carisal Foundation, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the Festival’s cultural mission and initiatives that enhance the Salerno area.

The conference concluded with interventions from Maurizio Casagrande and Luisa Mariani, presenters of the final Gala Night scheduled for 29 November, who shared reflections on the role of cinema and the arts as essential tools for cultural growth and dissemination.

The Festival extends its sincere thanks to all participants, members of the press, and partners who contribute to the realization of the 2025 edition.

The 79th Salerno International Film Festival will take place from 24 to 29 November at the Teatro Augusteo.
